Joe Louis Walker is a walking encyclopedia of blues history, and blues vocal and guitar styles. In fact, one of the very few who can match his eclectic tastes in music is Duke Robillard, the veteran guitarist who founded Roomful of Blues when he was a teenager, and who has made a dozen albums for Stony Plain.
Both vocally and instrumentally, Joe Louis Walker is indeed a witness for the blues, and the creative, sometimes startling approach to America’s most significant music holds a bright lantern for others to follow.

JOE LOUIS WALKER wurde 1949 in Arkansas geboren, zog aber bald nach San Francisco. Die Plattensammlunq seiner Eltern brachte ihn zum Blues und mit 14 Jahren begann er mit dem Gitarrespielen. Er bekam Jobs in der Clubszene von San Francisco und war befreundet u.a. mit Lowell Fulsom und dem legendären Slide-Gitarristen Fred McDowell, der einer seiner Haupteinfiüsse war.
Neben seiner Arbeit als Bluesmusiker war Joe lange Jahre in der Gospelszene tätig, was auch heute noch in manchen seiner Songs herauszuhören ist. Mit der Mississippi Delta Blues Band kam er 1985 erstmais nach Europa, im darauffolgenden Jahr gründet er die BOSSTALKERS und 1986 konnte er auf Hightone sein erstes Album veröffentlichen. "Cold is the Night" war der Titel und vier weitere Alben für Hightone sollten folgen. 1992 war Joe Louis Walker zum neuen Star der Bluesszene avanciert, erhielt zahlreiche WC Handy Awards und unterschrieb einen Vertrag bei Verve.
